Sun, Wine, and Relaxation...Madrid, Spain

After we left Barcelona, we arrived in Madrid where we spent the next two days.
Puerta del Sol

Neptune Fountain. Plaza Canovas del Castillo
Posing with some street performer on the side of the road
Plaza Mayor
Jason posing with a “Rocky” street performer, pretty funny and not sure where the connection is, but that’s alright!haha
Another view of the Plaza where we enjoyed a drink and the sun that never comes to England! haha
We found this place that sold churritos (Spanish fried dough thing) thought it’d be good, but not so super!
Beautiful Church right outside the Royal Palace.

The Spanish Royal Palace (Palacio Real) in Madrid Spain is the second largest palace in the world
Statue located in the Palace Gardens

One of the many nice plazas located throughout Madrid
Mariachi band outside of Puerto del Sol
Kilometre zero where distances in the country were originally measured from
Early the next morning we headed over to Museum Prado, but Jason had a hard time staying up with me! Here’s an action running shot of him!
Museum Prado

Retiro Park (Parque del Retiro) is a huge urban park
We bought some cheese, meat, bread, and wine to enjoy at the park for the afternoon, and we went there and then found out you can’t go on the grass! Really a park where you can’t go on the grass...come on! Needless to say we were very upset and hungry so we hopped on the metro and headed back to this hill we were at yesterday by the palace to enjoy our lunch.
Finally time to enjoy our wine and lunch! Also Jason’s first time to open a bottle of wine with a Swiss Army knife, and let me tell you it was an experience, but he did it! P.S. we did Google how to do it earlier in the day! haha
Others on the hill
Enjoying my chorizo meat, Jason didn’t care for it! But I learned about it in my Spanish class and had to have it while I was in Spain.
Adios Spain!
